For some sick reason, all of this makes coming to school totally worth it because for a short time, I can forget about everything else.This short passage is definitely representative of how Birdie deals with her emotions, and touches on one theme from the book. Her going to school makes her life feel normal when her family is going through some incredibly abnormal things.
