Houston applied the Page 69 Test to Dead Insider, the thirteenth book in the series, and reported the following:
I am pleased (and surprised!) with Page 69 for a couple reasons. First, it catches a main character, Doc Osborne, puzzling over another character’s loneliness. As he wonders, he thinks back to a similar time in his own life – so we learn about Doc Osborne losing his wife and how he slipped into alcoholism. At that point the story shifts to “real time,” in which a note is discovered by a young woman – a note about a hat and six bluegills. What? Who ARE these people? And so we have Page 69: a page full of guesses.Learn more about the book and author at Victoria Houston's website.
